Hantaviral-Volvo
Drove my mom’s car this morning. Lots of plastic rattles from her apparent hatred of the interior. Also I’m sure she hasn’t noticed how rough it’s running. Okay. Fine. Pop the hood. Engine bay is a mess. That’s expected. The piles of mouse shit though? Impressive.
I ... I .... er .... um .... I don't understand. It’s not like it’s sitting in a barn. She DD’s this thing and it lives outside. Do the mice go for drives with her? Where do they live? Do I want to find out?
Nope. Closing the hood. Going back inside now.

You might be surprised how common this actually is. Hopefully they haven’t chewed through any wires yet.

I see stuff like this come through the shop fairly often, I pulled a dead mouse out of a lady’s hubcap the other day, it got stuck between the steelie and the plastic, couldn’t even see if from the exterior.

Today I was rescuing my friend’s Xantia (rare Activa model) that had been disabled by a bored rat. His parking spot is just besides their apartment’s garbage disposal shack and the rat had been bring snacks and interior decorations all over the engine compartment.
While the rat had been hanging out in the engine compartment it had also destroyed some parts of the wiring harness to the point that we had no idea where the loose ends are supposed to be going. Small pieces of wires were scattered everywhere. The engine doesn’t start but luckily the mess didn’t burn down the whole thing.
We pressure washed the engine but the smell of wet rat poo is awful.

Well... It is a Volvo, and my last name is Lund. Alas no, Philly not Sweden. The mice are much more manageable.
